Store both in a dry place without extreme temperatures that could damage the components.
When needed, clean {model} carefully with a dampened tissue. Do not wet the electric components or the disc brakes.
Tyre pressure
-
The recommended pressure is reported on the shoulder of each individual tyre. Different tyre models may have different pressures, but the usual recommended pressure is 3.0 Bar
-
It is recommended to use the tyre slightly below its intended pressure to achieve a greater efficiency during acceleration and to reduce possible bounces when moving.
Battery
Maintaining a charged battery ensures {model}’s maximum efficiency, especially in those situations when the motor has to drain extra power to conquer uphill roads or difficult terrain.
Lithium-ion batteries can be recharged in any moment (even before complete discharge) without compromising the battery’s characteristics.
12. Safety Recommendations
In order to move safely and effectively use {model} applied to a wheelchair, it is recommended to consult qualified personnel.
Below are some tips and recommendations for proper use of {model}, to stay safe and ensure the device is in best possible working order
-
Given the setup of the system formed by the wheelchair and {model}, at the start you have to accelerate gently in order to prevent slippage of the tyre, especially uphill or on wet or slippery ground. Sometimes it is useful to bring your upper body a bit forward to increase the weight on {model} and consequently the grip of the wheel.
-
The brake is to be used solely to slow and stop the vehicle and does not work as a parking brake. If needed, use the brakes of the wheelchair (only after having completely stopped).
-
The two brake levers have a switch that cuts power to the engine as they are activated.
-
When using {model} at night time it is recommended to use the red tail light as safety measure.
-
When traveling on roads, refer to the rules that apply to an electric wheelchair, in your country’s legislation.
-
Pay attention to the movement of the centre of gravity when cornering in order to avoid loss of balance.
-
The handlebar has a steering angle greater than ± 90 ° in order to minimize the turning radius of the device.
-
It is recommended to face uphill roads with care keeping in mind that when curving the displacement of the centre of gravity is even more evident than on flatland.
-
Increase power output before the stopping for excessive strain. If this happens it is best to stop, increase the power and then restart. This way the battery life is saved.
-
While using or storing {model} near the sea you have to pay attention to the salted air. To avoid corrosion of the frame and at the components (motor, brakes, etc.) clean them with a sponge and warm sweet water to remove salt deposits. Pay attention while cleaning not to let any water enter the connections area in order to prevent oxidation.
-
Perform a general inspection of {model} at least once every three months, especially checking tyre inflation, the tightness of the fastening and adjusting hardware and cleanness of the battery contacts.
13. Key measures to be taken to limit the risks connected with misuse of {model}
To simplify the operations of loading and unloading it is recommended to divide the wheel into three parts: the battery, the fork/wheel/handlebar block, and the arms/fastening system.
In the case of air transport of {model}, please inform the boarding authorities showing the label attacked on the battery.
{model} in particular configurations can include among its component chromed metal parts. In case of allergy to chromium, do not use the ware and inform the company about necessary replacements if not already specified in the order. Please call the company in case of allergies and other similar disadvantages due to the contact with the ware’s building materials
Use the brakes to reduce the speed. Use the wheelchair’s brakes as parking brakes.
Any anti-tip devices may cause problems while using {model} or even be damaged.
Always check the tyre pressure and the efficiency of the disc brake.
Make sure the battery is always sufficiently charged before using {model}.
Plug in the battery charger prior to recharge the battery. Remove it from the charger as soon as the battery finishes its charging cycle.
Do not disassemble, crush, or puncture the battery.
Do not short the external contacts on the battery.
Do not dispose of the battery in fire or water.
Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 50 °C.
Keep the battery away from children.
Avoid exposing the battery to excessive shock or vibration.
Do not use the battery if damaged. If the battery is leaking fluids, do not touch any fluids. Dispose of the leaking battery (see Disposal and Recycling in this manual).
In case of eye contact with fluid, do not rub eyes. Immediately flush eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes, lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of the fluid remains. Seek medical attention.
In case of extended exposure to rain, it is good to make sure the connections area is dry and clean in order to prevent oxidation of the connectors.
Bad maintenance and improper use of the ware may cause damage or injury to the user or their companions.
It is recommended to perform all the operations of attachment/detachment of {model} while the wheelchair is braked with its parking brakes, in order for them to be easier and safer.
14. Maintenance, inspection, checks
-
Check the tyre pressure. Each cover has, on the side bands, the pressure for which it is designed. A flat tyre or one too inflated affects the effectiveness of vehicle traction and of its brakes.
-
Check the efficiency of the brakes and especially the functioning of the power-interrupting switch included in every lever.
-
Check the tightness of the screws that make up the fastening system, the fulcrum pin and the efficiency of the plug.
-
Check the functioning of the front light.
It is recommended to refer only to authorized and qualified personnel to perform maintenance programs, adjustments, and components replacement on {model}.
15. Authorized technical assistance
In case of any problems, faults or breakages please inform immediately the authorized dealer supplying the following indications: . model . serial number . fault description . any reference or order number, if available, recorded on the order form. All the elements that make up {model} are available as spare parts.
